Cookie Decorating Party
What would the holidays be without cut-out sugar cookies or gingerbread cookies? They are probably the most time-consuming cookie to make, so why not turn the decorating part into a party?
Here’s what to do:
- Select a Date
- Check schedules with your friends. Allow at least 3 to 4 hours to give everyone time to be creative.
- Invite Guests
- Counter and table space in your kitchen will determine how many decorators you can accommodate.
- Decide Who’s Baking
- You could bake all the cookies yourself. If you do all the baking yourself, consider baking and freezing cookies in advance so that’s already done before the holidays begin. Or, have everyone bake one batch of cookies and bring them to decorate.
- Prepare for Decorating
- Assemble all necessary equipment for making frosting and decorating. You’ll want disposable pastry bags and decorating tips. Also, lots of small bowls for mixing different colors of frosting, spoons, knives and spatulas.
- Have everyone bring at least two kinds of sprinkles or candies for decorations. You could provide chopped nuts, chocolate for dipping or drizzling and a wide variety of food colors.
- Be sure you have plenty of Reynolds Parchment Paper on hand for catching drips, drizzles and sprinkles.
- Decorating Day
- Line counters with Parchment Paper for everyone to work on.
- Set up stations for different techniques – a chocolate dipping station, a drizzle station, a frosting station and a piping decorations station.
- If one of your guests is an expert on decorating, have them demonstrate a technique to the others.
- Provide containers for everyone to take their cookies home. Pack the cookies between layers of Parchment Paper to protect them in transit.
- Play festive music and serve some beverages
Have Fun!
